The Challenge
This
canoe or kayak outbound adventure takes place on the pristine
Chicamicomico Creek traversing southwest across Dorchester County,
Maryland toward
Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Participants are sure to see eagles,
white-tailed deer, turkey and many other indigenous wildlife species. This
flat-water tidal creek twists and turns through marshlands and farm fields
flowing toward Fishing Bay and finally the Nanticoke River, a feature
river in the Nature Conservancys Last Great Places program. Camping
takes place in primitive campsites where wood fires are allowed. One
popular campsite is actually on an uninhabited island accessible only by
boat! This trip is recommended for boaters with a Swimmer classification
and experienced campers only. |
