Located on 1500 beautiful wooded acres the camp is situated
between the Marshyhope Creek and the Nanticoke rivers in rural Dorchester
County, Maryland, USA. The rivers provide space for sailing, motor boating,
waterskiing, rowing, canoeing and kayaking. We have
purchased a brand new 20' motorboat with 150 horsepower outboard for 2004!
Abundant wildlife includes the
Bald Eagle, the Delmarva Fox Squirrel and other rare and endangered
species. |

Staff housing is provided in a variety of locations
depending mostly upon age of the staff member. Generally counselor in
training and junior staff members live in large canvas wall tents on
platforms. Tents have electricity and are located near modern shower and
laundry facilities. Other staff members live in lodges or family cabins
with all the conveniences of home. |

|
| Meals are served three times a day in our 400 seat dining
hall. Henson is renowned for the quality of its food and variety of menu.
Henson staff shares in the daily program in the dining hall on a rotating
basis. The kitchen staff works hard to prepare meals
that will keep them coming back for more! This dining hall as well as the
other newest facilities were all recently constructed in a successful 1.5
Million $capital campaign. Since the completion of the new facilities the
attendance at Henson has skyrocketed to double that of five years
ago! A 50% increase in Boy Scout attendance is
predicted for 2004! |
