Rodney Scout Reservation Staff
Rodney Scout Reservation
is an exciting place to be a camp staff member. Last year alone over 2400 boys
and 500 leaders experienced Rodney. Due
to the excellence and dedication of our staff, Rodney has built a reputation as
an elite Boy Scout Camp. You will
be called on to give 100 percent effort to continue building on this Rodney
tradition of excellence.
The Reservation Director
has been at this camp for 2 years and was a staff member in the 1970’s. He
directs (and has done so for 20+ years) one of the Northeast Region BSA Camping
Schools. The Program Director has
been on staff for 8 years. Many Rodney staff members return through their high
school and college years and beyond. A counselor in training program is run
every summer for about 20 future staff members. A total of 100 people are on
camp staff at Rodney.
Rodney Scout
Reservation is located on over 900 acres of rolling upland woodlands at the head
of the Chesapeake Bay and boasts over a mile of prime bay frontage.
It has been in continuous operation since 1923.
Rodney is located in Cecil County Maryland, about 6 miles Southeast of
Interstate 95 and Maryland Route 40, off Maryland Route 272 near the town of
North East. This great location also provides easy access from Baltimore,
Washington, Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Staff housing is provided
in a variety of indoor locations depending mostly upon age, experience and
assigned area of service of the staff member.
Staff facilities offer modern shower and recently upgraded laundry
facilities.
Meals are
served three times a day in our two dining halls. The staff shares in the daily
program in the dining hall on a rotating basis. The kitchen staff works hard to
prepare meals that will keep them coming back for more!
A staff lounge is
centrally located at Brown Lodge with television and VCR as well as a
refrigerator. The comfort and entertainment of camp staff members is taken
seriously. Private shower and bath facilities are provided as well as a newly
renovated laundry facility. Scouts that are still in the advancement program are
able to participate in the merit badge program. All staff are scheduled for at
least one night off a week to get out in the “real world” for an evening. A
telephone and computer with 24-hour Internet access are available at all times.
